What is the Creation Museum?

Have you ever wanted to walk through the Garden of Eden? Or want to stare a moving dinosaur in the face? Do you wish you could learn about the Biblical standpoint on creation and the meaning behind our existence? The Creation Museum is a unique attraction and will immerse you into a walk-through Garden of Eden! The museum is full of dinosaurs, and informative exhibits stating Biblical creation. There is also a creep-crawly bug exhibit, ziplining, a beautiful botanical garden (great setting for professional-looking photos!), a zoo, a planetarium, and more! With more than 140 modern, well-organized exhibits, the Creation Museum will captivate you and your family as you learn about both God’s creation and biblical history.

The Creation Museum is located in Petersburg, Kentucky in Northern Kentucky where you can find hotels, restaurants, and large retail stores. It is only minutes–MINUTES–from CVG airport, so it is great for out-of-state visitors to fly in and see.

This attraction is about 45-minutes away from the sister attraction, the Ark Encounter, and I highly recommend doing that one as well! I mean, while you are here visiting one, you seriously should buy one of the combo ticket options to visit both and save some cash. Plus, the attractions offer a bus ride to and from each other so you don’t even have to drive there if you do not want to. Take a look here at an in-depth Ultimate Guide to the Ark Encounter.

Is it good for Kids?

You may wonder if children will enjoy this museum, or have to be dragged by the hand throughout? But what child wouldn’t love to see dinosaur animatronics and fossils? Our young daughter thoroughly enjoys the museum and looking at the biblical exhibits. Just make sure not to miss the bug exhibit, Dr. Crawley’s Insectorium!

You will likely spend just as much time outside here as you do inside. Head over to the zoo and pet some animals, and take a thrilling ziplining ride over the beautiful botanical gardens! Then let the kids–and yourself–play on the massive playground.

*Tip: Let your kids go wild outside before going indoors. They will definitely burn off a ton of energy on the playground and wandering through the gardens!

Is the Creation Museum Stroller/Wheelchair Friendly?

The Creation Museum is very stroller/wheelchair friendly. You can rent strollers, ECVs, and Wheelchairs at guest services inside the museum as first come first serve. Please note, that outside there are some slight hills that might prove to be challenging for some wheelchair users. The grounds have 6 bridges in the gardens, and several of them are for foot traffic only.

Tickets/Parking

You have several different options when it comes to tickets, and there is a separate price for each a child’s, adult’s, and senior’s ticket. Good news for 2022: kids under the age of 10 get in for free and there is no limit on how many kids under the age of 10 that attend with you!

Parking is $15 for standard vehicles and $20 for oversized vehicles, and payment is required upon entering.

  • 3-Day Bouncer Pass: this is described as the best value ticket option, and it is for ages 11 and up and ranges from $49.95(child ticket) to $99.95 (adult, a separate senior price is available also).  This allows for 3 unlimited visits to the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum within one week and has additional special parking options.
  • Ark and Creation Museum Combo ticket: this is one general admission to each the Ark and Creation Museum–perfect for a whole day at each attraction. This option can be purchased and used any day within a one-week period, just like the Bouncer Pass. Prices are $44.95 (11 and up) to $84.95 (adult; senior discount available). This is a great value as well!
  • General Admission ticket: your general admission ticket is good to visit on the day of purchasing and ranges from $24.95 (child) to $54.95 (adult, senior pricing available too).

Unlike the Ark Encounter, you will not need to ride a bus from the parking lot to the museum attraction.

Where to Eat?Noah's Cafe sign

The Creation Museum offers burgers, wraps, salads, snacks, drinks, and the like at Noah’s Cafe inside the Museum. They have options for visitors with food allergies and sensitivities as well. Also, you can find coffee, fudge, and ice cream in the lobby for a pick-me-up of energy. Apart from that at the museum, you are very close to an array of restaurants nearby in Northern Kentucky.

Christmas Festivities!Dinosaur wrapped in christmas lights

If you are able to visit during the Creation Museum’s Christmas festivities, please do! The Creation Museum does a fantastic job of Christmas-time entertainment with breath-taking lights and Christmas attractions! This is one thing that Creation Museum trumps over the Ark Encounter. Don’t get me wrong, because they are both worth a visit even if I am partial to the Ark Encounter, but the Christmas season win goes to the Creation Museum hands down.dinosaur wrapped in christmas lights

Time to Go!

You could very well spend an entire day here at the Creation Museum if you plan on doing activities such as ziplining, seeing a concert, or listening to a guest speaker. However, if you plan on visiting both the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter, I would plan for the Ark Encounter to be your biggest priority. The Creation Museum holds an exhibit on Noah and the Flood but the Ark Encounter is unmatched and should be visited.

The Creation Museum can be enjoyed in a half-day, and the extra time in your day means you can visit some other nearby attractions such as Big Bone Lick State Historic Site. Then give yourself an entire day (if not more) to visit the Ark Encounter. Here is my in-depth guide to the Ark Encounter!
